Network Connectivity Support

If you notice a warning that says "Weak connection detected" please be sure to try the following tips to help establish a stronger connection:

  1. Check your internet connection: The first step is to check your internet connection.  Make sure that your internet connection is stable and strong enough to support video conferencing. You can check your internet speed using an online speed test tool.
  2. Restart your router: Sometimes, restarting your router can help to improve your internet connection. Turn off your router and wait for a few minutes before turning it back on.
  3. Close unnecessary apps and tabs: If you have too many apps or tabs open, it can slow down your internet connection. Close any unnecessary apps or tabs that you're not using to free up bandwidth.
  4. Turn off your camera: If you're still experiencing issues, you can try turning off your camera. This will reduce the amount of data being transferred and improve your connection.
  5. Move closer to the access point - if there’s a space in the classroom with a better signal, try sitting the student there at the start of sessions.

Remember that a weak internet connection can impact the quality of your session.

For individual students experiencing connectivity problems, include instructions to activate Relay Mode.
  • Relay Mode helps bypass difficult firewalls and network restrictions. To enable it, go to a Space, click Setup > Troubleshooting, and activate Relay Mode. This can improve connection quality in certain firewall-restricted scenarios.
  • For multiple students affected in a school environment, advise whitelisting essential domains with the school’s network or IT team to prevent firewall blocking. Required domains include:
  • *.room.sh and *.thelessonspace.com to allow Lessonspace Spaces access.
  • For cobrowser functionality, whitelist *.hyperbeam.com and/or *.hiperbeam.com. If there are concerns about granting access to *.hyperbeam.com (which includes a watchparty platform), allowing only *.hiperbeam.com will enable the cobrowser without granting full watchparty access.
Note that school firewall configurations vary, so further investigation may be necessary to ensure Lessonspace works on school networks.
