Headphone Replacements

If students have headphones that are physically damaged, or have audio or microphone issues, follow these steps for headphone replacement:

Please follow the steps below to collect evidence (physical damage) or complete testing steps (audio issues) required to process replacements. Please note that the warranty period is valid up to six months from the order date; we will not be able to replace headphones outside of this timeframe.

What should I include in my request for replacement headphones? 

In order to process your replacement request, the following information is required:

  • Physical Damage Photos
    • If there is physical damage, please email a photo of the headphones, along with a brief description of what is broken. Multiple headphone sets may be included in the same photo, but each set needs to be clearly visible. Due to warranty requirements, we will not be able to replace broken headphones without this evidence. Please encourage your students to handle the headphones carefully to avoid physical damage.
  • Audio Issues Testing
      • If you are experiencing issues with the audio (not being able to hear) or microphone (not amplifying the user voice), please do some preliminary testing to rule out any hardware or settings issues:
        • Do the headphones work on other devices? Swap in iPad, Android tablet, laptop, etc. This step will help rule out device (and possibly software) issues. 
        • Are other headphones working on the same device? This step will also help rule out device (or software) issues. 
        • Is the Chromebook / device not recognizing the headphones? This step will help rule out settings/pairings issues.
          • Unplug the headphones from the jack on the Chromebook. 
          • Close the lid of the Chromebook and wait for ten seconds. 
          • Plug the headphones back into the jack. 
          • When you open the lid, the Chromebook will rescan your audio devices
          • Confirm your headphones can be found among the list of devices.
  • Order Consolidation Across Teachers: 
      • All teacher replacement needs must be consolidated into one request before submitting it to Ignite Reading for processing. Due to shipping charges, we will be unable to accommodate multiple one-off requests.
  • Processing Timelines:
  • Replacement headphone orders may take 2-3 weeks to arrive at your school.
