GoSchoolBox Technology Best Practices

Our platform partner GoSchoolBox recommends reviewing this checklist to ensure a great user experience.

Best Practices

  1. Restart or shut down computer every Friday.
  2. Ensure strong wifi connection wherever possible.
  3. Lessonspace requirements:
    1. Supported Devices & Network Requirements
  4. Close all other video conferencing tabs.
    1. Google meet, Zoom, Microsoft teams, any previous Lessonspace session, etc…
  5. Close out of any unnecessary tabs.
  6. Ensure that if computers are used by multiple students, each student logs out prior to the next student using the device.
  7. Join session from the GoSchoolBox platform, not a bookmarked link.
  8. Students and tutors who have a session built into the school day find the most success in their sessions if students join from their regular classroom environment.
    1. This limits transition time for the student.
    2. It provides an environment with less background noise than a shared space.
    3. If students do need to join from a larger shared space from a cafeteria, we do encourage limiting the number of students in the area to 20 or 30.
    4. Here is an article on noise cancellation in the Lessonspace which can be very helpful for students joining from an environment with a lot of background noise.

FAQ

  • What should I do if I am unable to turn on my camera or microphone?

How do I know if my internet connection is strong enough?
  • Run an internet speed test by typing “internet speed test” into Google.
  • Lessonspace will show a wifi signal icon on user video feeds if they have low connection .
  • If you have low internet speed, try turning your modem on and then off again.
  • Move to an area near your modem with strong wifi signal.
  • If students in your district are experiencing poor connectivity when connecting at school, check how many Wifi access point they have access to. If there are many devices trying to access limited Wifi access points at the same time it can cause unstable connectivity issues. A solution to this would be to install more wifi access points to the location the users join their sessions.

What if a student can’t get into clever or classlink?
  • Users should also check with their district IT team for assistance with logging in through Clever or Classlink.
